Meet our new Finance Officer!

We’re so pleased to introduce our new Finance Officer, Ahmed Mohiuddin!

Ahmed has recently joined the team to help us with our financial records and, most importantly, making sure everyone gets paid! We thought you might be interested in hearing about him and his role at ActNow so we sat him down for an interview.

Read on.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Ahmed and I graduated from University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and have worked in tax, finance and management in different sectors and industries in Adelaide. I am a parent of three boys and one girl.

To many artists, finance is a curly beast and we’re all amazed at how quickly you’ve sorted us out here at ActNow. What drew you to the field of finance?

I have always been interested in numbers and financial management both at a personal and professional level. I took interest in numbers since I was a kid, using my pocket money to buy and sell things that can generate income. That's how I started my career.

What are you most excited about working at ActNow?

It’s an organisation that promotes cultural harmony in the community. It is important because cultural understanding can bring people together to enjoy variety in terms of food, clothing, and also, tolerance in society.

Do you have any creative interests? What do you enjoy doing in your time off?

Yes! As a kid I grew up watching Bollywood movies and always wanted to work in the film industry, and once at school I directed a play.

I enjoy watching true story documentaries about history, people and Islam (Hadith).

If you could bring only 3 things with you to a deserted island, what would you choose?

  1. My faith Islam (a way of life),

  2. my holy book Quran,

  3. and my cooking gear.
