Community Workshop: Stephen Rea and Vicky Featherstone In Conversation

  • ActNow Theatre 253 Gouger Street Adelaide, SA, 5000 Australia (map)

Stephen Rea and Vicky Featherstone - In Conversation will focus on Stephen’s founding of the theatre company Field Day.

Field Day began in 1980 in Derry as a cultural and intellectual response to the political crisis in Northern Ireland. Playwright Brian Friel and actor/director Stephen Rea set out to identify and develop a new audience for theatre. Friel’s critically acclaimed Translations was the first of many Field Day plays to show at Derry’s Guildhall before travelling throughout Ireland and the world.

We will also look more widely at the work of Samuel Beckett, focussing on Krapp’s Last Tape and look at how we approached the text and the unpicking of something so revered for performance.

We hope that this will be a genuine conversation with the theatre-makers who join us.

Join us for this free event designed for community members aged 18+, with a small donation suggested from allies to support the program.

All donations $2 and over are fully tax-deductible.
