Artist Support Online Meeting

Following all organisations across our industry, ActNow Theatre made the decision to postpone all upcoming workshops and performances, whilst also closing the doors to our office and MakeSpace on the 20th of March.

We’ve been very aware of the impact this has had on our artists, and the overall impact COVID-19 has had on our communities. Since closing, we’ve been in conversations about how our programs can be modified and adapted through this time, and how we can best support our artists.

With this in mind, we’d like to invite our artists to an online meeting. In this meeting, we’ll not only be able to connect socially, but discuss how ActNow Theatre can support you during this time. We want to discuss accessing Centrelink support, survival strategies, job opportunities, and finding out what you are needing and if there’s any way that we can help.

This meeting will take place tomorrow, Friday 27th March at 1:00PM ACDT via Google Hangouts. To join the meeting go to meet.google.com/suo-pjnb-cnx . If you have any difficulties accessing Google Hangouts, you can also join by phone ‪+61 3 8594 7117 and enter‬ PIN: ‪477 499 128‬.

The second part of ActNow Theatre’s response to COVID-19 is tied to emerging funding opportunities. Our major state funding body, the Department of the Premier and the Cabinet, has announced COVID-19 Arts Grants to support “art-making, creative development and professional development across all art forms” with a maximum amount of $10,000. With this in mind, ActNow Theatre and its staff are offering to support any of our artists who are applying for these grants.

This support comes in the form of:

  • Providing support and advice on applying for funding

  • Reviewing grant drafts (budgets, artistic statements etc.)

  • Discussions prior to grant writing to soundboard your ideas

Anyone in our network is welcome to join the meeting, but know that we can only provide 1 on 1 support for grant applications to the artist and community members who have been in our programs over the last two years, or were scheduled to be in our programs this year (this does include all bookings and workshops).

If you are looking for support in these areas, email us at info@actnowtheatre.org.au

We hope to chat with you tomorrow.
