The project will be exploring our cultural identity; of never fitting, of trying to find your place, people and home. We seek to explore what it means to be cultural nomads in the context of being second-generation Asian-Australians and ask, “What does being 'Australian' mean”…

I wanted to explore specifically the cultural-clash of my Eastern traditional upbringing to my Western

society and values. If I was asked to ‘define’ my nationality, I would undoubtedly say Australian. I

would never say I am Chinese. Yet, there is always the feeling that I am not ‘truly’ Australian, and will

justify, jump and exhaust myself through mental gymnastics when I think about it too much.

This is the crux of my investigation - how this constant questioning and cultural-clash manifests in our

lives. How do we reconcile this? Is it even possible to reconcile? What stories arise from this? And

how are these stories unique in an Australian context.

... I believe the residency is just the beginning and jumping off point to greater feats of telling more stories, of even further investigations into our liminality
