ATSI Acting Skills Workshop
Interested in acting? Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander? Want to have fun and meet deadly people?
In 2017, we partnered with a range of outstanding organisations to provide a three day theatre workshop for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people who are considering studying acting. The workshops were led by Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists to provide an insight into how participants can become professional actors or arts workers. Over three days, participants will meet with a variety of key people in the industry, learnt what is involved in studying acting, develop acting and auditioning skills, met like minded people and have fun. No experience necessary!
The Acting Skills Workshop ran in August 2017, with catering and transport provided. If you’re interested in partnering with us on a workshop series, please contact us.
What previous workshop participants have said:
“Nobody tells you what to expect in an audition so you kind of just go in blind so it’s good to know just a few key things that might help you get in or get the part”.
“It brings out someone’s shame, it brings it out and there’s no shame”.

This project was developed by ActNow Theatre in partnership with Yunggorendi Student Engagement, Flinders University Drama Centre, Adelaide College of the Arts, State Theatre Company of South Australia and Kurruru Arts and Culture Hub, and is supported by the Aboriginal Benefits Foundation and Arts South Australia.
