Forum for Consent is an interactive theatre performance about healthy relationships that has evolved from the highly successful program Expect Respect.
Forum for Consent is an interactive theatre project for young audiences addressing healthy relationships. It utilises techniques from Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed to provide interactive peer education approach, enabling audience members to ’try out’ solutions on stage to the problems at hand. Forum for Consent was recently adapted for a commission by University of Adelaide. ActNow is currently engaging with health organisations to partner with the project in the promotion, delivery and evaluation of the project to high schools, universities and community organisations in Australia.
The project is based on a hugely successful partnership with the Legal Services Commission of SA, presenting Expect Respect, addressing the legal implications of rape and sexual assault. Expect Respect toured to over 50 high schools, was twice commended in parliament and featured on ABC News.
