Expect Respect! was an innovative early intervention project promoting safe and respectful relationships by raising awareness of sexual violence and the law, with a focus on the legal meaning of consent. Expect Respect! was a project of the Legal Services Commission of South Australia developed by artists at ActNow Theatre.
The project performed to 68 times to over 3,000 young people between 2010-2012, at schools, community groups and conferences. It was twice commended in South Australian Parliament, featured on ABC News and was nominated for a Premiers Award for Excellence in the Public Sector.
“Quite a confronting performance, and very powerful…. using a method and language that clearly resonate with young people… It is quite an astounding and most impressive program. The Legal Services Commission and the ActNow Theatre for Social Change actors are to be congratulated on their efforts.” – Hon. Gail Gago ( Minister for the Status of Women)
